Explain why use ospf router id and what is meaning and can use ip add use router-id ?

  • The OSPF router ID is used to uniquely identify each router in an OSPF network.
  • It helps determine the designated router (DR) and backup designated router (BDR) in multi-access networks.
  • The router ID can be manually configured or automatically assigned.
  • By default, the highest IP address assigned to a loopback interface is used as the router ID, but it can be explicitly set using the “router-id” command.
