I have completed my B.Com graduation, and currently I am working as a Temporary System Operator. However, this is not a permanent/full-time job, and I am looking for a stable, long-term employment opportunity. Could you please guide me on how I can find a permanent job suitable for my qualification and experience? I am willing to learn new skills and work hard to build a long-term career

Long-Term Career Path for a B.Com Graduate in IT

Where you stand: You are a B.Com graduate working as a Temporary System Operator — that is real, relevant IT operations exposure. The fastest route to stable, permanent employment from here is the Network Engineer roadmap, because your current work already touches systems and operations, and networking is the standard entry ladder into permanent IT roles.

Your Roadmap: Network Engineer

Roadmap

  1. 1

    Networking Foundation4 months

    CCNA, Juniper JNCIA

  2. 2

Enterprise Routing, Switching & Troubleshooting8 months

CCNP ENCOR, CCNP ENARSI, Real Troubleshooting — Routing, Real Troubleshooting — Switching

  3. 3

    Choose a specialization track12 months

CCNP Security, Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Fortinet FortiGate, CCNP Datacenter, F5 LTM Load Balancer, CCNA DevNet, CCNP DEVCOR, Python for Network Engineers, SD-WAN, CCNP SPCOR

Stage 1 (months 0–4) Networking Foundation After this you can explain IP addressing, routing basics, switching and VLANs, and configure small networks — enough to clear entry-level interviews.

Stage 2 (months 4–12) Enterprise Routing, Switching & Troubleshooting After this you can run OSPF and BGP, troubleshoot real routing and switching faults, and handle enterprise network operations independently.

Stage 3 (months 12–24) Choose a specialization track After this you can move into security, data center, automation or SD-WAN work, which is where senior roles and higher pay sit.

What it pays in India (market ranges, not offers)

  • Junior Network Engineer / NOC: ₹4–7 LPA
  • Network Engineer (2–5 yrs): ₹9–18 LPA
  • Senior / Network Architect: ₹20–35+ LPA

Actual figures vary by company, city and your interview performance. No one can promise a job or a salary.

Next step Start with CCNA — it is the single first course in this roadmap. Realistically, with consistent study and your existing operations experience, the first salary jump into a permanent role is a 6–12 month goal, not immediate.

One note: since your degree is B.Com, some employers will ask for a technical certification as proof of skill. CCNA plus hands-on lab practice is what closes that gap.
